Support of Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Phase II

This project saved me, so to speak. Perhaps this statement is not necessarily comprehensible to some people, as Somalia is a country that does not exactly have the best reputation worldwide and is one of the most unsafe countries in the world. But the assignment came at a difficult time, when the pandemic was in full swing and there were no other projects in sight. I replaced the communications colleague who left the project.

My role is to support and coach the communication team of the Ministry of Education and Training in Somaliland in the implementation of an image campaign for the TVET sector. I am also creating a communication training that will be multiplied throughout Somalia, including Puntland, Jubbaland and Mogadishu, not only in the ministries but also in schools that offer TVET. Currently my work is still online.

We are planning to fly to Somaliland in the spring. Together with a colleague, we had to or were allowed to take part in a so-called Advanced Safety & Security Course (HEAT+ = Hostile Environment Advanced Training) at CSD in Holland, which was a special experience in itself. So although we are ready to fly, it always depends on the local Covid and safety situation whether we are allowed to fly or not.

In this project I am responsible for the International Federation (IB) I have been working as a consultant since the end of March and have a local employee in Somaliland who actively supports me. My duties are expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
