Together with a colleague from the AI Manager course, we both got down to business and made our way to the "Mission AI" to the Deutsches Museum in Bonn made. Mission AI" is an exhibition that goes far beyond the usual popular science formats. Here, artificial intelligence is not only explained, but brought to life. The exhibition is aimed at anyone who wants to develop a deeper understanding of AI or expand their existing knowledge - from interested laypeople to experts from the industry. The exhibition is designed for all age groups. Both children and adults will have fun in this predominantly interactive exhibition!
From the foundations to the current fields of application: An interactive learning course
Mission AI" offers a comprehensive overview of the various facets of artificial intelligence. In the interactive experience rooms, visitors can explore the basics of neural networks, experiment with state-of-the-art applications such as deep fakes and text-to-image generators and test the possibilities of autonomous driving in the driving simulator. The "KI:ckstarts", moderated introductory sessions with the Museotainers, offer the opportunity to delve deeper into specific topics and enter into dialogue with experts.
RHINO, the AI-based museum guide, and other 'explanatory bears'
A particular highlight of the exhibition is RHINO, an example of the use of AI in robotics and navigation. In addition, "Mission AI" offers insights into current research projects and innovative applications of artificial intelligence. The owl Pfiffikus, the museum mascot, is available as an AI-supported chatbot and answers questions on the topic. The real-life 'museum guides' (museotainers) are always on hand to answer visitors' questions or introduce them to the world of virtual reality or, for example, the autonomous driving experience.
TouchTomorrow-Lab: A look into the future of digitalisation
In the TouchTomorrow Lab, visitors can experience the technologies of tomorrow and get to grips with the future challenges and opportunities of digitalisation. Innovative concepts and applications are presented here that have the potential to fundamentally change our world.
Networking and knowledge exchange: events and AI talks
The Deutsches Museum Bonn regularly organises events and lectures on the topic of artificial intelligence. These events provide an ideal platform for networking and knowledge exchange with other AI enthusiasts and experts from the industry. Recordings of past AI Talks, which deal with topics such as cyber security, robotics and ethics, are available online.
Conclusion: "Mission AI" - interactive and in tune with the times
The "Mission AI" exhibition at the Deutsches Museum Bonn offers a great opportunity to experience the world of artificial intelligence up close and personal and to familiarise yourself with the most important trends and developments. A visit is worthwhile for anyone who is involved with AI either professionally or privately or is looking for an introduction to this comprehensive topic. We enjoyed it and, above all, we realised once again that we are very well versed in the subject and it was fun to be confirmed that our further training was a very good investment in ourselves.
